How Easy is It to Get Around Ibiza
How to get around Ibiza? Information about transports in Ibiza, tourism information
There are many things to consider when heading on holiday to somewhere new and unfamiliar, transport is one of them. Worry not, Ibiza's public transport system is very efficient and easy to understand.
If it's your first time to Ibiza, then you might not be aware that there are three main party resorts on the island: Playa d'en Bossa, San Antonio and Ibiza Town, all of which are fairly spread out but easy to get too. You can reach the farthest part of the island by road within 30 minutes, but getting taxies everywhere will cost you a fortune.
For an alternative, cheaper route around Ibiza, take a look at our transportation guide for those on a budget.
1. Getting around Ibiza by DISCO BUS
The bus service in Ibiza is well-connected and thecheapest way to get around in Ibiza. The famous Disco Bus connects all of the major clubs and party resorts throughout the summer. In the evenings, the L3 'Disco Bus' starts at midnight until 6AM and runs from San Antonio via Amnesia and Privilege, all the way to Pacha in Ibiza Town.
The L3B Disco Bus runs from San Antonio to Playa d'en Bossa via Ushuaïa and Hï Ibiza and starts in the early afternoon.
As you can imagine, people travelling to and from parties can be excitable and loud, so prepare yourselves to be packed with a bunch of rowdy party-goers. Take it with a pinch of salt and have a bit of fun. Besides having saved tons of money, you will have met some great people from all over the world on these wild journeys.
Price: A single ticket on any of these routes is between €3 to €4.
2. Getting around Ibiza by REGULAR BUSES, public transport
Of course, Ibiza isn't all about clubbing. On average, buses run every 30-60 minutes, with busier routes running every 10-15 minutes. Check the bus map information at the bus stops or ticket office, download the Ibiza Bus App, or click here: www.ibizabus.com.
The bus network connects you to some of the most beautiful beaches on the island. From San Antonio to either Cala Gracio, Cala Comte, Cala Bassa and more.
After arriving at the airport, the cheapest form of transport is the bus. The L9 bus will take you from the bus stop outside Ibiza airport via San Josep to San Antonio bus station, and the L10 will take you to the port in Ibiza Town. It saves standing in a hefty taxi queue in peak season and not to mention it'smuch cheaper.
Price: €3 to €5.
3. Getting around Ibiza by WATER TAXI'S
During the hot summer days, there is nothing worse than sitting on a stuffy bus. From San Antonio and San Antonio Bay, you can leisurely cruise along the Mediterranean sea for a similar price by water taxi to surrounding beaches throughout the day. Namely, Cala Salada, Cala Bassa, and Cala Conta and Ibiza Town to Playa d'en Bossa, Figueretas, and Cala Llonga.
You can also opt for the boat trips that can take you to Es Vedrà, Cala Benirrás, or Es Caná's hippie market. The timetable is 9.30am – 9.30pm and boats leave every 30 minutes.
With the wind in your face, glistening views and no traffic jams, we can see why water taxies are such a popular option for islanders.
Price: €3 to €6 each way.
4. Getting around Ibiza by car. RENT A CAR
Make the drive as enjoyable as the destination and rent a car at an affordable rate. The benefits of hiring a car are that you can feel freedom driving around the island at your own pace and explorethe plethora of hidden beaches and coves that can be accessed only by a motor in Ibiza.
Prices are very competitive all year round, so be sure to book in advance online to save money and find the best discounts and remember to bring all the right documents. Most car rental companies only rent cars to adults over 21 to 25. Make sure to purchase car insurance to provide security for your rental car in case an accident was to occur.
5. Getting around Ibiza by TAXI
You can always hail a taxi down on the streets if the light is green, but during peak season it is much better to book in advance. You may be left stranded on the streets waiting for a taxi as it becomes extremely busy and more difficult.
In San Antonio, there is a taxi rank at the bottom of the West End by the fountains and around the Bay, you will find one if you head towards O Beach. Ibiza Rocks Hotel has a taxi rank outside the front, making it a safe and reliable way for holidaymakers to travel. Taxis are based on a metered system and can be quite expensive when travelling in small numbers.
Top Tip: Grab a taxi after 7:00 am for the cheapest tariff, making partying for longer even more worthwhile
Price: The fare usually starts between €3.65 and €4.95.
